TRAVEL TIPS

In the next days you will find at the website some tips for arriving in Montevideo.
The welcome cocktail will take place on the evening on Sunday April 9th.
The last session will end on Friday 14 at 17h.

Try to book your flights a.s.a.p.
There is a limited number of direct flights from USA and Europe to Montevideo.
Some relatively cheap and reasonably good alternatives for flights from USA are the following Latin-American airlines: COPA, Avianca and LATAM. You have also flights with American and Delta.
For Europe, you have good connections with LATAM, Air Europa, Iberia and Air France.
If you plan to go through Buenos Aires, be careful that the international flights come to one airport (Ezeiza) while most of the flights to Montevideo goes from the downtown airport (Aeroparque). It takes ~ 2hr to go from one airport to the other by bus.
If you plan to visit Buenos Aires, a wise alternative is to take an hovercraft (Buquebus) which takes 2.5 hr from harbor to harbor.
You can also take the chance to visit some other Latin-American country, since most of the flights goes through Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile and Lima.

If you plan to stay in Uruguay before or after the conference, we recommend the following places in addition to Montevideo:
– Colonia del Sacramento – 180 km west of Montevideo, just in front of Buenos Aires. A nice historic town in dispute between the Spanish and Portuguese during the colony.
– Punta del Este and the oceanic beaches – 150-200km east of Montevideo – Although, in April it would be a bit cold for swimming, there are nice beaches for a peaceful short vacation.
– Several touristic ranches (“estancias turĂsticas”) where you can spend a nice week-end in a gaucho-style.

LUNCH TICKETS

We offer lunch tickets for the 4 days at USD 100 Professional / 50 USD Students.
The lunches will be a buffet served in a room nearby the conference rooms.
The buffet will include drink and dessert, as well as vegetarians option.
It will be a special service for us; it is not the university canteen, which it will be closed during the eastern holidays.
The lunch break will be from 12.30 to 14hr.
There are a few restaurants at walking distance from the conference site; but unless you opt for the fast food, it might take over 1 hr to get served. A basic lunch menu at one of these restaurants should cost over USD 20.

The tickets has to be bought in advance before March 10th.
They will not be sell during the conference.
